Unveiling PipeQuest: A Revolutionary Incentive Program for Decentralized CDN on Solana

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – May 1st, 2025

At the highly anticipated Token2049 event, the Pipe Foundation announced the launch of PipeQuest, a pioneering incentive program designed for node operators who contribute their computing power to the first decentralized content delivery network (CDN) built on the Solana blockchain. PipeQuest represents a significant step forward in the growth and adoption of decentralized technologies, allowing participants not only to contribute but to earn rewards in exchange for their involvement.

The Pipe Foundation, a dedicated non-profit organization, aims to decentralize, promote, and expand the Pipe Network. This innovative CDN is specifically designed to leverage Solana’s capabilities to enhance performance and reliability. The newly launched PipeQuest initiative is structured as a multi-season program that will stimulate ecosystem growth, encourage active participation from node operators, and facilitate community engagement well ahead of the expected mainnet launch this summer.

Pipe Network’s architecture promises easy scalability and is tailored to create a self-sufficient ecosystem. Users are incentivized to actively participate in the network, benefiting content and media companies, web3 developers, and other digital service providers in the process. Central to this innovation is the deployment of decentralized Point of Presence (PoP) nodes that can easily be established by anyone, from ISPs to enterprises. This permissionless model seeks to dismantle the barriers typically associated with traditional CDN partnerships.

Since its launch in a private development network at the beginning of the year, Pipe Network has already made impressive strides, including:

  • 200,000 PoP nodes onboarded
  • Over 200,000 files uploaded
  • More than 250 Terabytes of cumulative storage utilized

David Rhodus, Founder of Permissionless Labs, noted on the testnet’s availability, “We’re excited to make our testnet available to the wider Solana community to demonstrate how a decentralized CDN can increase bandwidth and reduce latency beyond what has been possible with off-chain solutions. We have already seen significant improvements, for example, 30% lower initialization times for Solana network validators downloading their Solana Snapshot via our CDN. Our goal is to engage the community in building next-generation solutions for applications that demand real-time responsiveness, such as video streaming and high-frequency trading, especially in underserved areas.”

The first season of PipeQuest kicks off on May 5th, 2025, introducing node operators to a dynamic framework that promotes engagement:

Season 1 – PoP Node Performance

  • Core Objective: To benchmark node performance by assessing uptime, round-trip time (RTT), and cache efficacy.
  • Tracking: Performance metrics will be monitored via Guardian Node tools.
  • Incentives Awarded: Top-performing operators will receive recognition on an internal leaderboard, with the top 1% earning 2x points multipliers and Mainnet “Edge Captain” badges.

Season 2 – Community Engagement

  • Core Objective: Raise awareness and understanding of decentralized CDNs.
  • Tracking: Engagement will be measured through activities like meme challenges and CDN literacy campaigns.
  • Incentives Awarded: Points will be awarded based on the quality and impact of contributions.

Season 3 – Demand Generation & Onboarding

  • Core Objective: Drive authentic traffic through the network to optimize partner integrations.
  • Tracking: Measured through participation metrics such as data uploads and user feedback.
  • Incentives Awarded: Participants can earn mystery boxes based on their engagement levels.

Points accrued during each season will be tracked on an internal scoreboard, allowing for fair evaluation of performance. This structured approach aims to reward meaningful contributions and foster a strong community of early adopters.

The Pipe Network’s team at Permissionless Labs consists of seasoned professionals with a history of building scalable solutions, including former engineers from Amazon Elemental Cloud. Their expertise uniquely positions them to disrupt the CDN market through the application of blockchain technology.
